Sponsorship Program

About the sponsorship program

Helping Hands’ sponsorship program is designed to support children and youth through their education – and in some cases, families who need help due to special circumstances. We aim to give as many children and young people as possible the opportunity to attend school and pursue higher education.

If you don’t want to sponsor a specific child, you can also contact us to become a monthly donor. In that case, we allocate the funds where the need is greatest – for example, to children without sponsors, in case of illness, or in other challenging situations.

Fill out the sponsorship form to become a sponsor – and give a child a better future.

Sponsorship program FAQ - frequently asked questions

What is it that I pay for when I'm sponsoring a child or youth?

When you become a sponsor, you’ll be informed about what is included in the amount you contribute. This typically covers school fees, school supplies, and uniforms. School fees may vary from one school to another.

What happens if I can no longer continue being a sponsor?

If you’re no longer able to continue your sponsorship, your child will not suddenly be left without access to education. We are committed to the children we support and will continue to follow up with them. However, it does affect how many children we’re able to help overall. Without steady income and committed sponsors, we sadly can’t promise support to additional children – even though many are still in need. We completely understand that life has its seasons – sometimes you’re able to contribute, other times not. This should never affect the child directly, but our ability to help more children depends on the support we receive.

How often will I receive updates about the child I sponsor?

The number of updates you receive may vary. Some children and youth live near our project leader, Gladness, in Tanzania and/or need extra follow-up. Others study far away, which can make communication less frequent. We do our best to keep sponsors updated – but please note that this work is done in our spare time and on a voluntary basis. This also means that every cent goes directly to your sponsored child and the purpose we've communicated.
